SQUID GAME SEASON 2 TEASER (2022) | Everything You Need To Know!
Before we start, again, this video contains A LOT of spoilers, so buckle up and enjoy! What if winning playground games could make you rich? But the catch is if you win, you go home with the prize. If you lose, you’re a goner. This is basically the premise of the latest South Korean Netflix hit Squid Game. Squid Game is a nine-episode series about a world where children’s games turn deadly, and where money is your only drive to live. Squid Game’s backdrop is South Korea’s present-day, very real wealth inequality. Squid Game is the first South Korean drama to hit the No. 1 spot on Netflix, reaching that milestone just four days after its release. It is scary and terribly physical, but it’s also addictive and bingeable. Squid Game has gone viral across the world and online by morphing childhood games popular before the digital era such as “Red Light, Green Light” into survival challenges with billions of dollars as a prize for the last player standing. Yes, the games are terrifying but how much worse are they than the half-lives of those living in interminable debt? Squid Game focuses on a desperately indebted group of people in South Korea. Big bucks are at stake : 45.6 billion South Korean won or $38 million US dollars. But the odds of survival aren’t good.
With Squid Game fever rising, viewers are dying to know if more is to come, especially after the open-ended final scene of the first season. The ending—spoiler alert—shows the Squid Game winner Gi-hun en route.
Meanwhile, fans have been expressing their cries about a second season via social media, especially on Twitter. A twitter user wrote, “Squid Game is one of the best things I’ve watched on Netflix. I want a season 2,” in a post sharing a collage of stills from the series. Sharing a collage of poster images from three Netflix dramas, including Squid Game, another Twitter user said: “waiting for alice in borderland, sweet home, squid game season 2.” This post had over 65,000 likes. One more user tweeted, “I just finished Squid Game and all I need is season 2 also Ali, Sae Byeok, and Ji Yeong deserve the best, thank u for listening.”
At the end of the series, Gi-hun dials a number given to another person.
The end scene has fans hoping that Gi-hun’s story will continue, with the victor teaming up with others to shut down the secret, multinational death Game. Everything besides Gi-hun’s very likely return is up in the air.
So when will we likely see a glorious new season for the series? So if (and that’s a big if) Squid Game is renewed for a second season, we likely won’t see it hit screens for 12 months given it would require scripting, recasting and filming. With that in mind, Netflix has been known to renew a series or two when it’s had such a viral response. If the show does get renewed, there would be quite a wait for the Season 2 premiere. Squid Game was first announced in 2019, with production taking two years to complete. So even with the most optimistic timeline, Season 2 probably wouldn’t arrive until early 2023. So let us all just hope, fingers crossed, Squid Game follows suit.
Reportedly, Netflix has said that it plans to invest $500 million on original movies and TV shows this year.
